I am a songwriter whom would like to sell my songs that I wrote to artist that are looking for great lyrics or to record labels that are looking for great songwriters.
Lyrics alone can be hard to sell. My advice would also be to find artists trying to make a demo and collaborate with them to sing your songs. Make sure your stuff is copyrighten first.
Another avenue is to get a little into Spoken Word. Russel Simmons of Def Jam has started Def Poetry Jam and it comes on HBO. This is really helping lyricist take off.
Also visit http://spokenwordbeats.com A lot of the Def Jam poets are using this music to perform their lyrics over. This helps people see what you see. A lot of people can read or hear your words but that cannot see the vision you see behind it. You have to appeal to people’s senses.
After all that submit lyric sheets and sample of your lyrics recorded on music and other liver performances to various A&R’s and publishing companies. The Musician’s Atlas http://musiciansatlas.com is a great resource that lists all the Record Labels, A&R’s, publishing companies, music managers and etc that are accepting demos and unsolicited material. If it says they’re accepting only solicited materials, then you will need to find a music manager or entertainment lawyer to submit it for you.
