Something I said – Review of the songwriter Pieta Brown "One and All"
Something I have said – Pieta Brown
Dwight Hobbes – Twin Cities Daily Planet
The singer-songwriter Pieta Brown 's One and All in red St. Paul House Records is a good follow-up Shimmer EP, their excellent debut on the label. In fact, surprisingly, is an improvement. Shimmer, a record seven songs, always a showcase for Brown's vocals and bright solid and elaborate compositions. You get more than five this time and therefore a wide range of moods in his voice and the textures in your material.
It's hard to remember a people of influence Mrs. Brown Pieta potential for cross-appeal mainstream and reaching national prominence during a long time. The most recent was probably Melanie, back in the early '70 's with "Brand New Key. "And in the case, Brown has a great consistency in the quality of their work and have a chance to hit on the radio more than it misses. His ability popular music from deep in reality the impact is considerable, and the exposure that won this year's opening of Mark Knopfler on tour in the United States certainly did not hurt.

Uniquely equipped with a different voice, while leaning thoughtfully and superior skills of composition, shown with one and all that rare ability to put together an album that sounds fresh each inspired. Although they all have their trademark, delivered nostalgic reflection in bright tones, not a single selection out as one of the others simply returned to work. Note the collection, "backwards", blues with a cadence seductive lyrics like: "If wishes were horses / I walk / down to the river / Where the water is wide / For eye for an eye / Just leave blood on the floor / Someday / It will be backwards? "And there's the homage to the hypnotic blue-collar life in the trenches of society" Over the hills Grass ".
The staff is top notch, with Brown (acoustic guitar and keys), backed by Bo Ramsey who produced the album (guitar, vocals), Jon Penner (bass), JT Bates (drums), Steve Hayes (drums), Brian Wilkie (pedal steel), Joey Burns (cello, accordion), and constituted Brown (vocals), Alex Ramsey with the keys to "fail." This is typical of choice for anyone who loves good music will enjoy. If you happen to be rich in ballads, poetic folk roots, the better.

Pink Moon $5.25 Pink Moon is the sound of Nick Drake cracking up. That’s not exactly true–some have long thought that his death by an overdose of an anti-depressant was an accident, and not suicide–but this album, recorded over two late nights, certainly sounds like a fever dream. Peter Buck of R.E.M. has called the album “Like an English version of (Robert Johnson’s great blues) `Hellhound on My Trail.’” The l… |

John Mayer – Any Given Thursday $7.04 All the qualities that have made John Mayer a rising star are on display in this concert package: an interesting voice; tunes that are catchy but still have some depth; an appealingly casual slacker attitude; and enough grit to separate him from the namby-pamby singer-songwriter crowd. Recorded in 2002 in Birmingham, Alabama, the nearly two-hour concert showcases not only Mayer’s songs (including … |
